Trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries was positive and amounted to 2.8 million Euros
According to the preliminary data in 2014, the trade balance of goods with foreign countries stood at 2.8 million Euros, representing a coverage rate of imports by exports of 102.4%. In 2013 this balance was negative (-26.5 million Euros).
The performance of the corporations headquartered in the International Business Center of Madeira (IBC) was crucial to these results, by generating a surplus in International Trade of 51.2 million Euros.

In 2014, exports totalled 123.8 million Euros (83.5 million Euros compared with the previous year), 79.6% of which destined for Third Countries (i.e. outside the EU), while imports reached 120.9 million Euros (110.0 million Euros in the previous year), 82.0% of which coming from the EU. 78.7% of the exports and 38.2% of the imports were made by corporations headquartered in the IBC.
