In the first nine months of 2025

Region’s Trade Balance with foreign countries recorded a surplus of 181.4 million euros

According to preliminary data for the first nine months of 2025, the trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) with foreign countries registered a surplus of 181.4 million euros, higher than that recorded in the same period of the previous year (40.0 million euros). This corresponds to a coverage rate of imports by exports of 183.7%, exceeding that observed in the first nine months of 2024, which stood at 117.5%.

During the reference period, total exports by enterprises headquartered in the ARM amounted to 398.2 million euros, representing an increase of 48.5% compared with the first nine months of 2024, while imports totalled around 216.8 million euros, a decrease of 5.0% compared with the same period of the preceding year. From January to September 2025, most goods exported were destined for third countries (52.4% of the total), whereas imports continued to be predominantly from European Union countries (80.7%).
