In the 3rd quarter of 2016, the unemployment rate was estimated at 13.2%
The Labour Force Survey results for the 3rd quarter of 2016 indicate that the unemployment rate for Madeira was estimated at 13.2%. This rate is 1.5 percentage points (p.p.) lower than in the same quarter of 2015 (14.7%) and higher by 0.2 p.p. from the previous quarter (13.0%).
For Portugal the unemployment rate was 10.5%.
The estimation, for the same period, of the unemployed population in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 17.5 thousand persons, showing a quarterly increase of 1.8% (+309 unemployed persons) and a year-on-year decrease of 10.1% (-1.969 persons).
There were 115.3 thousand employed persons, which corresponds to a quarterly increase of 0.3% (+329 employed persons). Compared to the same period of the previous year the number of employed persons increased by 2.2% (+2,477 employees).
