In the 2nd quarter of 2017
Unemployment rate was estimated at 11.0%
The Labour Force Survey results for the 2nd quarter of 2017 indicate that the unemployment rate for Madeira was estimated at 11.0%. This value is down by 1.5 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous quarter and by 2.0 p.p. from same quarter of 2016.
The unemployment rate in Portugal stood at 8.8% (10.1% in the previous quarter).
There were 118.2 thousand employed persons, which corresponds to year-on-year and a quarterly increase of 2.8% in both cases (+3, 2 thousand people compared to the same quarter of 2016; +3.3 thousand people compared to the previous quarter).
In the period of reference, the estimate of the unemployed population in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 14.6 thousand persons, recording a quarterly decrease of 11.1% (-1.8 thousand persons) and a year-on-year decrease of 15.0% (-2.6 thousand persons).
