In the fourth quarter of 2014, the estimated unemployment rate was 15.1%
The Labour Force Survey results for the fourth quarter of 2014 indicate that the unemployment rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was estimated at 15.1%. This value is up by 2.1 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous quarter (13.0%) and down by 1.9 p.p. from the same quarter of 2013 (17.0%).
The unemployment rate in Portugal stood at 13.5% (13.1% in the previous quarter).
The estimate of the unemployed population in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at 19,866 persons, recording a quarterly increase of 15.8% (+2,717 unemployed persons).
There were 111.4 thousand employed persons, which corresponds to a quarterly decrease of 3.2% (-3,631 employed persons).
In 2014, the average unemployment rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 15.0%, -3.1 percentage points than in the previous year.
