In the 2nd quarter of 2015

Unemployment rate was estimated at 13.6%

The Labour Force Survey results for the 2nd quarter of 2015 indicate that the unemployment rate for Madeira was estimated at 13.6%. This value is down by 2.2 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous quarter (15.8%) and by 2.1 p.p. from same quarter of 2014 (15.7%).

The unemployment rate in Portugal stood at 11.9% (13.7% in the previous quarter).

In the period of reference, the estimate of the unemployed population in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 17,905 persons, recording a quarterly decrease of 14,6% (-3,059 unemployed persons) and a year-on-year decrease of 12.9% (-2,658 persons).

There were 113,298 employed persons, which corresponds to a quarterly increase of 1.3% (+1,402 employed persons). Compared to the same period of the previous year the number of employed persons grew by 2.3% (+2,545 employees).
