In the 2nd quarter of 2016
Unemployment rate was estimated at 13.0%
The Labour Force Survey results for the 2nd quarter of 2016 indicate that the unemployment rate for Madeira was estimated at 13.0%. This value is down by 1.3 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous quarter and by 0.6 p.p. from same quarter of 2015.
The unemployment rate in Portugal stood at 10.8% (12.4% in the previous quarter).
In the period of reference, the estimate of the unemployed population in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 17,174 persons, recording a quarterly decrease of 9.1% (-1,729 unemployed persons) and a year-on-year decrease of 4.1% (-731 persons).
There were 114,972 employed persons, which corresponds to a quarterly increase of 1.6% (+1,853 employed persons). Compared to the same period of the previous year the number of employed persons grew by 1.5% (+1,674 employees).
