Main fuels released for consumption increased by 4.1% year-on-year

In the 1st quarter of 2018, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totaled 34.4 million litres, increasing by 4.1% compared to the same period of 2017. 24.7 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 5.2% over the same quarter of the previous year. In the case of gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 2.0% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 16.9%. The sales of these fuels were 7.6 and 2.1 million litres, respectively.

5.2 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 21.3% from the year-ago quarter.

Mean prices increased in the 1st quarter of 2018

In the 1st quarter of 2018, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.223, a higher price than the one registered in the corresponding quarter of 2017 (€1.215). If compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows an increase of 2.6 cents.

The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.465, up by 0.3 cents compared to the 1st quarter of 2017 and also 0.4 cents higher than in the previous quarter.
