In the 1st quarter of 2015
Main fuels released for consumption increased by 0.5% year-on-year
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) stood at 31.4 million litres in the 1st quarter of 2015, increasing by 0.5% compared to the same period of 2014. The main fuel – diesel oil – rose by 1.5%, with 21.9 million litres being released for consumption in the reference period. In the case of gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 3.4% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 8.2%. The sales of these fuels were 7.7 and 1.7 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 4.8 (-2.3% than in the same period of the previous year) and 1.7 thousand tonnes (+3.6%), respectively.
Mean prices were lower than in the previous quarter
In the first three months of 2015, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.152, lower than the one registered in the last quarter of 2014 (€1.270). The mean price in the 1st quarter of 2014 had also been higher (€1.349).
The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.442, down by €0.198 compared to the 1st quarter of 2014 and down by €0.148 from the previous quarter.
Although the prices dropped in January, it should be noticed that there is a growing trend since mid February.
