Main fuels released for consumption increased by 2.9% year-on-year

In the 1st quarter of 2016, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totaled 32.3 million litres, increasing by 2.9% compared to the same period of 2015. 22.6 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 3.0% over the same quarter of the previous year. In the case of gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline rose by 1.9% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 5.7%. The sales of these fuels were 7.9 and 1.8 million litres, respectively.

4.4 thousand tones of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 27.1% from the year-ago quarter.

Mean prices dropped

In the 1st quarter of 2016, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.020, lower than the price registered in the corresponding quarter of 2015 (€1.152). If compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows a decrease of 7.9 cents.

The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.338, down by 10.4 cents compared to the 1st quarter of 2015 and also 9.2 cents lower than in the previous quarter.
