In 2013
GDP of the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at 4,070.8 million euros according to the new series of the National and Regional Accounts
Statistics Portugal (INE) released today the new series of the Regional Accounts, which incorporates, on the one side, the methodological changes associated to the implementation of the new European System of Accounts 2010 – ESA 2010 (comparing with the previous system, the ESA 1995) and, on the other side, the use of new structural data sources, notably the 2011 Census. The reference year for the new series is 2011.
In the case of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the methodological changes which derive from the adoption of the new ESA had an important impact on the values of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross Value Added (GVA) and also of other derived variables.
