DREM releases a redesigned version of the Regional Statistical Yearbook

On the occasion of its 45th anniversary as a regionalised service integrated within the Regional Government of Madeira, the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) is releasing a fully redesigned version of the Statistical Yearbook of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (AERAM).

This publication began to be issued regularly from the 1990 reference year, primarily as an initiative of DREM, and from 1998 onwards, in coordination with Statistics Portugal (INE). Since then, INE has produced harmonised statistical yearbooks for all NUTS 2 regions. In the case of the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira, this has been undertaken in close collaboration with the respective regional statistical services.

Whereas the AERAM was previously presented in its physical format as a voluminous compilation of tables organised by statistical area, in this new model each chapter consists of two pages: one with explanatory text and the other with infographics. All content is now bilingual (Portuguese and English). The statistical tables are now made available exclusively on DREM’s official website, as was already the case for the 2023 edition, published at the end of December last year.

Through this initiative, DREM aims to make the publication more visually engaging, thereby enhancing users’ ability to read and interpret the data.
