Value of performed works by construction enterprises amounted to 327.4 million euros
In 2015, the value of performed works by construction enterprises headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira amounted to 327.4 million euro, a decrease of 23.5% compared to 2014. This drop was mainly caused by the decline of the “building” and “civil engineering” works by 9.8% and 28.3%, respectively.
The construction companies with 20 or more employees were responsible for 77.3% of the total value of the performed works, generating 253.0 million euro, a 26.5% decrease compared to 2014. In this group of companies (i.e. with 20 or more employees), the “civil engineering” works were the most important (80.8% of the total), representing 204.3 million euro (down by 31.8% from the previous year). This decrease was mainly due to the decline in the works related to "motorways, roads, streets and ways" (-41.5%, corresponding to a 79.7 million euro drop).
In 2015, the purchases made by the construction enterprises stood at 81.4 million euros, down by 2.1% from 2014.
