Value of performed works by construction enterprises headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira rose by 3.9%

In 2017, the value of performed works by construction enterprises headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira amounted to 328.0 million euros, a 3.9% increase compared to 2016. This growth derived from the increase of the “building” works (+11.6%) since the “civil engineering” works dropped by 2.1%.

The construction enterprises with 20 or more employees were responsible for 71.1% of the total value of the performed works, generating 233.2 million euro, a 3.3% increase compared to 2016. In this group of enterprises (i.e. with 20 or more employees), the “civil engineering” works were the most important (68.0% of the total), representing 158.7 million euros (up by 0.6% from the previous year).

In the smaller enterprises (under 20 employees), the value of performed works topped 94.8 million euros, up by 5.6% from 2016. Works carried out in buildings were responsible for 85.3% of the total value of performed works by this type of enterprises, and they were mainly related (41.3%) with works of repair and maintenance.
