Value of performed works by construction enterprises amounted to 446.8 million euros
In 2013, the value of performed works by construction enterprises headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira amounted to 446.8 million euros, a decrease of 3.1% compared to 2012. This drop was mainly caused by the decline of 27.6% of the building works which was more pronounced than the increase in the civil engineering works (+11.2%). These works corresponded to 323.7 million euros (72.5% of the total).
The construction companies with 20 and more employees were responsible for 80.2% of the total value of the performed works, generating 358.3 million euros, + 2.4% compared to 2012. In this type of companies, the performed works in buildings registered a significant decrease (-26.9% compared to 2012). This decline affected both residential buildings (-50.9%, corresponding to -17.3 million euros) and non-residential buildings (-11.4%, corresponding to -6.0 million euros).
