DREM releases Business Plan, Assessment and Accountability Framework (QUAR), and Dissemination Calendar for 2024

In the plenary meeting of the Statistical Council (CS) held on December 15, favourable opinions were issued for the Business Plan of the CS and statistical authorities for 2024, including that of the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM).

Similar to previous years, in 2024, the Business Plan of DREM will take into account statistical production and dissemination activities, both as a delegation of Statistics Portugal (INE), coordinating and conducting national statistical operations in the Region and as a regional statistical authority, reinforcing its role in coordinating the production of official statistics in the Region. It will also focus on activities such as publishing, expanding time data series, conducting studies, and other types of releases to meet the increasing demand for official statistical information about the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM).

The goals and activities for 2024 reflect the commitment and determination of DREM to respond efficiently and impartially to the significant demands and requests imposed by the current context on society as a whole, from policymakers to the general public, who increasingly seek quality, relevant, and up-to-date statistical information about the current economic, financial, and social situation.

In 2024, DREM will be involved in 252 activities (250 in 2023), 102 as a delegation of INE and 150 as a statistical authority. In addition to the planned regular activities, other releases may occur as a result of occasional work.

Alongside the Business Plan, DREM also releases its Assessment and Accountability Framework (QUAR) for 2024, outlining the strategic and operational goals to be achieved in the said year.

Simultaneously, the dissemination calendar is also made available, listing all planned releases for 2024 and the expected date of availability for each occurrence.

DREM's dissemination strategy continues to focus on using its Internet website as the primary means of providing official statistical information for free in various formats, including "Em Foco" (a statistical analysis of the results), "Press release" (a summary of the main data sent to registered users via email), "Tables," "Publications" and "Time series." In 2022, the mobile application "Ramstats" was also launched, allowing immediate access to the most important indicators.

Recognizing the globalisation process where English is the dominant language, DREM also releases information in English. "Press releases," "Tables," and "Time series" will be simultaneously available in English, serving as a way to introduce the ARM to foreign users from a statistical perspective and also acting as a tool for units in the region in their relations with entities from other countries.

Data dissemination is a crucial stage of statistical activity, ultimately realising and giving visibility to the complete fulfilment of DREM's mission—to produce and disseminate quality official statistical information that responds independently and effectively to the changing and increasingly demanding information needs of society in terms of relevance, quality, and timeliness.
