Agricultural output in the Autonomous Region of Madeira rose by 1.4%
According to the Regional Economic Agricultural Accounts, the agricultural output in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at 105.4 million euros in 2019, growing by 1.4% from 2018 in nominal terms.
In 2019, 83.5% of the total agricultural output came from crop output and 11.9% from animal output, with the remaining percentage resulting from agricultural services and Non-Agricultural Secondary Activities. In Portugal, the share of animal output was higher (36.9%), but still crop production was also the most important component of agricultural output (57.9%).
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the main components of crop production in 2019 (88.0 million euros) were fresh vegetables (26.9 million euros, down by 7.6% from 2018) and tropical fruits (18.2 million euros, up by 11.5%).
Aviculture accounts for 54.0% of animal output, which totalled 12.6 million euros.
The intermediate consumption stood at 45.4 million euros, growing by 0.3% from 2018.
The Gross Value Added (GVA) corresponds to the difference between production (at basic prices) and intermediate consumption. In 2019, the GVA reached 60.0 million euros, increasing by 2.3% between 2018 and 2019.
Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) stood at 5.3 million euros, up by 1.3% from 2018.
