The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today on its official statistics website data on public employment in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. These data comes from the Directorate-General for Administration and Public Employment, more precisely from SIEP (Synthesis of Public Employment Statistics).

Public Employment in the Regional Administration of Madeira increased slightly compared to the previous quarter
The provisional data show that at 31/03/2018 there were 19,148 persons working in the Regional Administration of Madeira. Compared with the year-ago quarter this represents a decrease of 168 persons (-0.9%), while the comparative analysis with the previous quarter shows an increase of 43 persons.
At 31/12/2011 the number of persons working in the Regional Administration of Madeira stood at 21,354. This figure declined steadily until the 3rd quarter of 2016, and at a slower pace since then, with the value of the 3rd quarter of 2017 remaining as a minimum of the available series. However in the last two quarters, there was an increase in the number of persons working in the Regional Administration of Madeira.
In the country’s Public Administration, the number of workers increased from the previous quarter and from the year-ago quarter at the same rate (0.8%).
