Number of transacted dwellings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased but the sales value decreased
During the fourth quarter of 2016, 609 dwellings were traded in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, up by 8.4% over the previous quarter, and also up by 18.9% compared to the 4th quarter 2015. From that total, 495 were existing dwellings and the remaining 114 new dwellings.
The value of transacted dwellings in the reference quarter was approximately 67.3 million euros, representing a 0.4% decrease over the previous quarter and a 4.6% increase compared to the same quarter of the prior year. The sales value for the new dwellings stood at 14.6 million euros and for existing dwellings at 52.7 million euros.

In Portugal, the number of transacted dwellings in fourth quarter 2016 reached 34.3 thousand (a 8.9% increase compared to the last quarter), generating a sales value of 4.1 billion euros.
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, a total of 2,247 dwellings were transacted in 2016, up by 5.8% from 2015. In 2016, the total sales value exceeded 275.8 million euros, which represented an increase of 1.0% when compared to the previous year.
