Number and sales value of transacted dwellings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased year-on-year, but decreased compared to the previous quarter
In the second quarter 2018, 681 dwellings were traded in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, down by 4.9% over the previous quarter and up by 10.6% compared to the 2nd quarter 2017.
From that total, 523 were existing dwellings and the remaining 158 new dwellings. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of existing dwelling traded dropped by 9.7% (+14.7% y-o-y), while the new dwellings traded went up by 15.3% (-1.3% y-o-y).
The value of transacted dwellings in the reference quarter was approximately 90.2 million euros, representing a 2.1% decrease over the previous quarter but a 23.5% rise compared to the same quarter of the prior year. The sales value for the new dwellings stood at 26.2 million euros and for the existing dwellings at 64.0 million euros.

In Portugal, the number of transacted dwellings in the second quarter 2018 reached 45.6 thousand (a 12.0% increase compared to the last quarter), generating a sales value of 6.2 billion euros (+14.1%).
