In the first quarter 2019
Number and sales value of transacted dwellings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased year-on-year, but decreased compared to the previous quarter
In the first quarter 2019, 799 dwellings were traded in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, down by 2.2% over the previous quarter and up by 11.6% compared to the 1st quarter 2018.
From that total, 618 were existing dwellings and the remaining 181 new dwellings. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of existing dwelling traded dropped by 3.6% (+6.7% y-o-y), while the new dwellings traded went up by 2.8% (+32.1% y-o-y).
The value of transacted dwellings in the reference quarter was approximately 103.5 million euros, representing a 3.2% decrease over the previous quarter and a 12.4% growth compared to the same quarter of the prior year. The sales value for the new dwellings stood at 29.0 million euros and for the existing dwellings at 74.5 million euros.
In Portugal, the number of transacted dwellings in the first quarter 2019 reached 43.8 thousand (a 5.6% decrease compared to the last quarter), generating a sales value of 6.1 billion euros (-0.9%). The year-on-year growth rates were 7.6% and 12.9%, respectively.
