Number and value of transacted dwellings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased compared to the previous quarter
During the first quarter of the current year, 553 dwellings were traded in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, up by 8% over the previous quarter, but down by 15.4% compared to the year-ago quarter. From that total, 397 were existing dwellings and the remaining 156 new dwellings. Only in this last segment the sales numbers increased year-on-year (+69.6%), since the number of existing dwellings sold dropped (-5.5%).
The value of transacted dwellings in the reference quarter was approximately 82.6 million Euros, representing a 28.5% increase over the previous quarter, but a 23.2% drop compared to the same quarter of the prior year. The sales value for the new dwellings stood at 36.8 million euros and for existing dwellings at 45.9 million euros.
In Portugal, the number of transacted dwellings in first quarter 2016 was 29.5 thousand (a 1.2% decrease compared to the last quarter), generating a sales value of 3.4 billion euros.
