Implicit interest rate in housing credit and loan repayments in the Autonomous Region of Madeira decreased
In May 2020, the implicit interest rate in housing credit in the Region was 0.829%, decreasing by 0.079 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous month. In May 2019, the rate was 1.032%.
The average value of loan repayments dropped to €237 in the month of reference, with the interest component standing at €40 (down by €4 from the previous month) and the capital amortisation at €197 (down by €16 from in the previous month). In May 2019, the average value of loan repayments was 272 euros.
The average outstanding loan value in housing credit in the Autonomous Region of Madeira declined to €57,921 (€57,976 in the previous month). One year before it stood at €58,059.
In Portugal, the implicit interest rate in housing credit stood at 0.903% (down by 0.044 p.p. from the previous month), while the average value of loan repayments decreased to €227. The average outstanding loan value for Portugal rose from €53,886 in April 2020 to €54,010 in May 2020, thus maintaining a steady growth since March 2019.
