The total annual mean expenditure for households with dependent children was 45% higher than that of households without dependent children
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) released today new data from the Household Budget Survey (HBS) 2022/2023, related to the expenditure structure of households residing in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM). The analysis focuses on the total annual mean expenditure per household, considering household composition, primary source of income, and certain characteristics of the reference person, including sex, age group, and education level.

The 2022/2023 HBS results show that the total annual mean expenditure per household residing in the ARM was 22,605 euros. Expenditure classes such as Housing (including costs for water, electricity, gas, and other fuels) (39.7%), Transport (13.4%), and Food and non-alcoholic beverages (11.6%) accounted for 64.7% of the total annual mean expenditure for households in Madeira.
