DREM releases a new chapter of the "Statistical Atlas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira", concerning Social Protection

The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today a new chapter of the "Statistical Atlas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira", concerning Social Protection.

It is worth reminding that the first chapter of this publication was dedicated to Demography, the second to Mortality, the third to Education and the fourth to Enterprises.

The Statistical Atlas makes use of visually appealing charts and graphics to facilitate users' understanding of the most relevant indicators in each thematic area, which are integrated into the various publications made available by DREM for each statistical domain.

The Atlas is an instrument for the promotion of statistical literacy, allowing users to draw new conclusions about the socio-economic reality of the Region, either through the specificities by municipality and parish, and whenever the information at this level is available, or through the positioning of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) compared to other regions of the country.

This publication includes several Social Protection indicators whose main source is the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security - Institute of Computing, I.P.. Statistics Portugal (INE) and DREM also regularly publish a wide range of information related to this topic, on their respective internet websites. It includes information as well on pensioners from Caixa Geral de Aposentações.

The information on Social Protection presented in this chapter of the Statistical Atlas covers the period from 2012 to 2022 and is an instrument for the promotion of statistical literacy, where it is possible to understand where the Region stands in the indicators of the various pension schemes and social support, comparing not only the ranking of the eleven municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira but also how the Autonomous Region of Madeira compares to the country and to the other NUTS2 regions.
