Porto Moniz recorded 9 days with maximum temperatures above 25 °C and the highest average temperature
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) publishes today a summary of the main meteorological data for the month of November 2025, while simultaneously updating the respective Dashboard. This information¹ is provided by the Regional Delegation of the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere, I.P. (IPMA, I.P.), in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM).
Air temperature
In November 2025, the highest average air temperature (21.0 °C) was recorded at the Porto Moniz station, while the lowest average temperature was observed at Pico do Areeiro (8.8 °C).
Compared with the climatological normals² for November, all seven stations for which this information was available recorded higher values. The Santo da Serra station stood out, registering a deviation of +2.3 °C above the normal value for this month (12.3 °C).
Regarding the absolute maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in November, the highest extreme value, 28.9 °C, was observed at the São Jorge station on the 5th, while the lowest extreme value was recorded at Pico do Areeiro (1.0 °C on the 23rd). The Porto Moniz station registered 9 days with maximum temperatures equal to or above 25 °C.
Precipitation
In November 2025, the highest total monthly precipitation was recorded at the Chão do Areeiro meteorological station (244.6 mm). However, the highest daily precipitation value was observed at the Pico do Areeiro station (61.2 mm on the 12th).
Compared with the 1961–1990 climatological normal for November, only Porto Santo/Airport recorded a positive deviation (+22.4 mm), while all other stations registered negative anomalies, particularly Chão do Areeiro (–205.3 mm) and Santo da Serra (–181.2 mm).
An analysis of the number of days with precipitation (days with rain, rainy days, and very rainy days) shows that the Santo da Serra station recorded the highest number of rainy days (23 days with precipitation equal to or above 0.1 mm). The highest number of days with rain was observed at the Chão do Areeiro station (16 days with precipitation equal to or above 1.0 mm). In turn, Pico do Areeiro recorded 8 very rainy days, with precipitation equal to or above 10 mm.
Relative humidity
In November 2025, the monthly average values of relative humidity ranged between 64% at the Funchal/Observatory, Quinta Grande and Lugar de Baixo stations, and 92% at the Santo da Serra station. The lowest daily value, 7%, was recorded at Pico do Areeiro on the 2nd and 25th, while the highest value, 100%, was observed at nine stations on different days throughout the month.
Wind
In November 2025, among the stations equipped with an anemometer, the highest average wind intensity was recorded at Selvagem Grande (28.6 km/h), while the lowest average was observed at the Monte station (4.6 km/h). The highest wind gust of the month was recorded on the 13th at the Santa Catarina/Airport station, reaching 147 km/h.
Sunshine
In November 2025, the total sunshine duration (number of hours of bright sunshine) reached 178.7 hours at the Funchal/Observatory station, exceeding the climatological normal (151.7 hours). At the Santa Catarina/Airport station³, 166.8 hours were recorded, while Porto Santo/Airport registered 159.0 hours, also above the climatological normal (146.3 hours).
Sea water temperature
In November, the average sea water temperature measured at the Molhe da Pontinha (Funchal) was 21.9 °C, which is 1.0 °C above the climatological normal for this month. The highest daily average temperature was recorded on the 3rd (22.8 °C), while the lowest value, 21.2 °C, was observed on the 27th, 28th and 29th.
