In the 2nd quarter of 2025
Average gross monthly earnings per worker increased by 5.5% year-on-year, reaching 1 676 euros
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases the provisional results for the 2nd quarter of 2025 concerning average monthly earnings per worker and per job, for entities with tax headquarters in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM).
In the 2nd quarter of 2025, the average total gross monthly earnings per worker (per job) increased by 5.5% compared with the same period of 2024, amounting to 1 676 euros. Regular earnings and base earnings grew by 4.9% and 4.8%, reaching 1 318 euros and 1 268 euros, respectively.
In real terms, i.e., taking into account the change of the Regional Consumer Price Index (CPI), the average total earnings per worker increased by 2.2%, while regular earnings and base earnings rose by 1.6% and 1.5%, respectively, compared with the 2nd quarter of 2024.
These results cover 109.1 thousand jobs (+3.0% compared with the 2nd quarter of 2024), corresponding to beneficiaries of Social Security and to subscribers of the Caixa Geral de Aposentações, in entities with tax headquarters in the ARM.
Year-on-year, the most notable increases in total earnings were observed in “Financial and insurance activities” (section K; +9.9%), “Manufacturing” (section C; +9.7%), enterprises with 10 to 19 workers (+8.3%), the public sector (+5.9%), enterprises in the tradable sector (+7.1%), enterprises classified as “Knowledge-intensive financial services” (+9.9%), and enterprises in the “Low-technology manufacturing” group (+9.8%).
In the 2nd quarter of 2025, the average total gross monthly earnings per worker in the Region stood at 1 676 euros, which was 65 euros below the national average of 1 741euros. The national year-on-year change, in nominal terms, in the country, was +6.0% (1 643 euros in June 2024), and in real terms, +3.7%.
