DREM releases an "Em Foco" on the results of the 2026 presidential elections in the Autonomous Region of Madeira

The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) today makes available, on its website, an "Em Foco" publication dedicated to the results of the presidential elections held in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) in 2026, presenting an integrated analysis of the presidential election results, as well as voter turnout levels and the territorial distribution of the vote. These elections were held over two rounds, since no candidate obtained more than half of the validly cast votes in the first round, resulting in a second round between the two most-voted candidates.

This publication summarises the main results recorded in the two electoral rounds held in 2026, analysing the evolution of voting behaviour, candidate performance and voting patterns by municipality and parish.

In the first round of the presidential elections, held on 18 January, 255 653 voters were registered, of whom 139 084 exercised their right to vote, corresponding to a turnout rate of 54.40% and an abstention rate of 45.60%.

In the second round, held on 8 February, of the 255 653 registered voters, 141 368 took part in the electoral process, corresponding to a turnout rate of 55.30%, with the abstention rate standing at 44.70%.

The main results are highlighted below:

Presidential Elections (1st round) — André Ventura was the most-voted candidate in the Region

Presidential Elections (2nd round) — António José Seguro won in the Region
