In the 1st quarter of 2025
Regional trade balance with foreign countries recorded a surplus of 63.5 million euros

According to preliminary data for the 1st quarter of 2025, the trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries recorded a surplus of 63.5 million euros, significantly higher than that of the same period in the previous year (21.9 million euros). This corresponds to a coverage rate of imports by exports of 236.1%, exceeding the 136.3% recorded during the first three months of 2024.

During the reference period, the total exports from enterprises headquartered in the ARM amounted to 110.1 million euros, reflecting an increase of 34.0% compared to the 1st quarter of 2024. Imports stood at approximately 46.6 million euros, representing a decrease of 22.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the 1st quarter of 2025, just over half of all exported goods were destined for European Union countries (50.7% of the total), a predominance also observed on the import side (78.1% originating from the EU).

2024 Data revised

It should be noted that the 2024 data on International Trade for the Autonomous Region of Madeira have been revised from preliminary to provisional status. The final data is expected to be published next August.
