In the 2nd quarter of 2024
Value of transacted dwellings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased compared to the previous quarter and year-on-year
In the 2nd quarter of 2024, a total of 836 dwellings were transacted in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), which represents a quarterly increase of 20.1% and a year-on-year increase of 5.2%.
Of the total dwellings sold in the quarter, 650 were related to existing dwellings (77.8% of the total), with the remaining 186 (22.1%) new dwellings. Compared to the previous quarter, these two types of dwellings showed developments in the same direction, i.e., sales of existing dwellings increased by 23.1% and sales of new dwellings by 10.7%. When compared with the same quarter of the previous year, there were, in the same order, changes of -2.4% and +44.2%.
The value of transacted dwellings in this quarter stood at 189.0 million euros, up by 17.6% over the previous quarter (160.7 million euros) and up by 1.6% over the same quarter of the previous year (186.0 million euros). For new dwellings, the sales value reached 50.8 million euros (-5.9% and +34.7% compared to the previous and year-on-year quarters, respectively), while for existing dwellings stood at 138.1 million euros (+29.5% and -6.8% compared to the previous and year-on-year quarters, in the same order).
In the referenced quarter, the households acquired 690 dwellings, marking increases of 17.7% and 3.9% than in the previous and year-on-year quarters, respectively. In terms of value, transactions of this nature amounted to 158.6 million euros, +18.2% than in the previous quarter and +3.7% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2023.
Nationwide, a total of 37.1 thousand dwellings were transacted in the 2nd quarter of 2024, which represents a quarterly increase of 12.2% and a year-on-year increase of 10.4%. These transactions generated 7.9 billion euros, +17.0% than in the 1st quarter of 2024 and +14.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
