Value of performed works by construction enterprises headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira rose by 31.2%
In 2018, the value of performed works by construction enterprises headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira amounted to 430.3 million euros, a 31.2% increase compared to 2017. This growth derived from the increase of the “building” works (+54.0%) and the “civil engineering” works (10.7)%.
The construction enterprises with 20 or more employees were responsible for 72.5% of the total value of the performed works, generating 312.1 million euro, a 33.8% increase compared to 2017. In this group of enterprises (i.e. with 20 or more employees), the “civil engineering” works were the most important (55.8% of the total), representing 178.3 million euros (up by 9.8% from the previous year).
In the smaller enterprises (under 20 employees), the value of performed works topped 118.2 million euros, up by 24.7% from 2017. Works carried out in buildings were responsible for 85.9% of the total value of performed works by this type of enterprises, and they were mainly related (38.9%) with works of new constructions.
