In the 3rd quarter of 2014

Balance between formed and dissolved corporations was positive

After five consecutive quarters in which the number of dissolved corporations was higher than the number of formed corporations, in the 3^rd quarter of 2014 the balance between formed (153) and dissolved (139) corporations in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was positive  (+14).

Breaking down the data by economic activity we note that the most expressive positive balance was observed in “Accommodation and food service activities” (+17), “Administrative and support service activities” (+6), “Arts, entertainment, sports and recreation activities” (+5) and “Other service activities” (+4). In some activities the balance was negative, namely in “Consultancy, scientific and technical activities” (-6), “Transportation and storage” (-5), “Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” (-4) and in “Human health and social work activities” (-4).

The results for the 3^rd quarter were not expressive enough to compensate the negative balances of the previous quarters, namely of the 2^nd quarter. Consequently, the balance between formed and dissolved corporations in the January to September 2014 period was -41 (551 formed corporations and 592 dissolved).

By activity, the more positive balances were in “Accommodation and food service activities” (+67) and in “Arts, entertainment, sports and recreation activities” (+23). On the opposite side we find “Consultancy, scientific and technical activities” (-78) and “Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” (-55).
