Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was -0.7%

In April 2020, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -0.7%, decreasing by 0.1 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous month.

The largest negative changes occurred in the classes of the "Clothing and footwear" and “Communications” (-4.4% in both). Conversely, the highest positive changes were observed in the classes “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (1.9%), “Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels" and “Health” (0.6% in both).

In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.2%, 0.1 p.p. lower than in the previous month.

In April 2020, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region was 0.2% higher compared to the previous month and went up by 3.0% compared to the same month last year.
