Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 0.3%

In September 2021, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 0.3%, increasing by 0.5 percentage points (pp) when compared to the previous month. It should be noted that this rate has been in negative ground for 22 consecutive months, i.e., since November 2019.

The underlying inflation indicator, measured by the total index excluding unprocessed food and energy, showed a rate of 0.3%, up by 0.4 pp from the previous month.

Goods recorded a rate of 0.7% and services of -0.2%.

The highest positive changes occurred in "Transports" (+2.0%) and “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” (+1.5%) classes. Conversely, the largest negative changes were observed in “Education” (-4.8%) and in "Clothing and footwear” (-2.8%) classes.

In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.6%, 0.1 pp higher than in the previous month.

In September 2021, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region had a change of +0.2% compared to the previous month and increased by 1.9% over the same month of the previous year.
