12-month average rate of change of the Consumer Price Index was 3.3%
In April 2024, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM), the 12-month average rate of change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 3.3%, which was 0.3 percentage points (p.p.) lower than the previous month.
The underlying inflation indicator, measured by the total index excluding unprocessed food products and energy, showed a rate of 3.6%, which was 0.3 p.p. lower than the previous month.
Goods recorded a rate of 2.6%, and services of 4.2%.
The classes of "Restaurants and Hotels" (8.4%) and "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" (6.9%) experienced the highest increases. The class "Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco" (0.5%) showed the lowest change.
In the country, the CPI recorded an average change rate of 2.6%, which was 0.3 p.p. lower than the previous month (2.9%).
In year-on-year terms, in April 2024 vs the same month of 2023, the price change was 3.0% (2.2% in the country), a decrease of 0.5 p.p. from the previous month.
On a monthly basis, the price change in April 2024 was 2.0% (1.6% in the previous month). For Portugal, the monthly change rate was 0.5%, which was 1.5 p.p. lower than the previous month (2.0%).
In April 2024, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region showed a change of 0.5% compared to the previous month and 6.7% compared to the same month last year.
