DREM publishes, for the first time, data on the sociodemographic characterisation of persons who obtained credit
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) publishes today, for the first time, information on the sociodemographic characterisation of persons who obtained credit from financial institutions operating in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), covering the period 2021 to 2024.
This information is broken down by type of credit — housing loans for permanent owner-occupied dwellings, other housing loans, personal loans, car loans, credit cards, and other types of credit — as well as by amount granted and by number of borrowers.
The information now released is compiled by Banco de Portugal (BdP) based on data from the Central Credit Register and refer to new loans granted to private clients (both residents and non-residents), excluding credit transfers between institutions.
From the Em Foco released today, which presents an analysis of the main indicators, the following points stand out:

DREM shares Banco de Portugal dashboard on the topic
With the permission of Banco de Portugal, DREM shares the BdP dashboard on this topic, which contains data for the country as a whole, covering the period from 2021 to 2024. This tool enables dynamic and detailed navigation, allowing users to interactively explore the evolution of the sociodemographic characteristics of persons who obtained credit from financial institutions.
