In the 1st quarter of 2023
Weighted Annual Average Daily Traffic on Via Rápida increased by 14.7% when compared to the previous year
According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), in the 1st quarter of 2023, the road traffic count increased by 14.5% on Via Rápida and by 17.9% on Vias Expresso, compared to the same period in 2022. When compared to 2019, the growth was higher, of 16.2% and 24.7%, respectively. On the roads under concession, the aforementioned increase was driven by light traffic (+14.7% on the Via Rápida; +18.8% on the Vias Expresso), when compared to the 1st quarter of 2022. In heavy traffic, the change was also positive in Via Rápida (+4,4%), albeit lower. In Vias Expresso there was a 11.3% drop.
In the first quarter of 2023, the Weighted Annual Average Daily Traffic registered, in average terms, 34.4 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and 6.1 thousand vehicles on the Vias Expresso, representing an increase of +14.7% and 18.3%,correspondingly. The rise in light vehicle traffic (+15.0% on the Via Rápida; +19.1% on the Vias Expresso) determined the overall change. Due to the small share of heavy vehicle traffic (2.4% and 2.1% of the total, respectively), the changes over 2022 (+3.5% on the Via Rápida; -9.9% on the Vias Expresso) had little overall impact.

Note: the weighted annual average daily traffic corresponds to the number of vehicles, which, on average, travel every day along the length of each road.
