In the first half of 2020
Number of performances and spectators as well as the revenue decreased year-on-year in the Autonomous Region of Madeira’s cinemas
According to the provisional data made available by the Institute for Cinema and Audiovisuals (ICA), 3,319 performances were recorded in the cinemas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira in the first half of 2020, a 60.2% year-on-year decrease.
The number of spectators stood at 41,859, down by 64.7% and the box office revenues reached 216.7 thousand euros, a 64.1% decrease compared to the same period of 2019.
These results are associated with the closure of cinemas in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM), during the 2nd quarter of 2020, following government measures (national and regional) to contain the pandemic of COVID 19, so the values for this period are null.
