Number of spectators and revenue increased in the cinemas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira year-on-year
According to provisional data made available by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), in the second quarter of 2025, there were 3,299 sessions in the cinemas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), representing a decrease of 1.2% compared to the same period in 2024.
The number of spectators stood at 60,198, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 56.9%, while box office revenues were approximately 363,5 thousand euros, an increase of 64.9% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Data for the first half of 2025 indicate that cinemas in the ARM hosted 6,361 sessions, with 99,708 spectators, and generated revenues of 603,4 thousand euros. Representing a decrease of 5.5% in the number of sessions and increases of 23.7% and 28.3% in the number of spectators and revenues, respectively, compared to the same period in 2024.
