In the fourth quarter of 2016
Estimated unemployment rate was 11.0%
The Labour Force Survey results for the fourth quarter of 2016 indicate that the Unemployment Rate for Madeira was estimated at 11.0%. This value decreased by 3.7 percentage points (p.p.) when compared with the same quarter of 2015 and by 2.2 p.p. from the previous quarter.
The unemployment rate for Portugal reached 10.5% (the same value of the previous quarter).
The estimate of the unemployed population in Madeira stood at 14.1 thousand persons, having recorded a quarterly decrease of 19.4% (-3.3 thousand unemployed persons).
The employed population was estimated at 114.2 thousand persons, representing a quarterly drop of 1.0% (-1,1 thousand persons employed).
