Unemployment rate was estimated at 13.0%

The Labour Force Survey results for the third quarter of 2014 indicate that the unemployment rate for Madeira was estimated at 13.0%. This value is down 2.7 percentage points (p.p) from the previous quarter (15.7%) and 4.0% from the same quarter of 2013 (17.0%). In Portugal this rate stood at 13.1% (13.9% in the previous quarter).

The estimated unemployed population for the third quarter of 2014 was 17,149 people, decreasing by 16.6% from the previous quarter (-3,414 unemployed people) and by 24.5% from the same quarter of the previous year (-5,565 unemployed people).

In the reference period, the employed population stood at 115 thousand people increasing by 3.9% from the previous quarter and by 3.6% from the corresponding period of 2013.
