DREM releases final data for dissolved marriages by divorce, for the period 2014-2016

The final data for dissolved marriages by divorce show that, in 2016, 652 divorces were decreed in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, corresponding to an increase of 1.6% over the previous year, i.e, compared to 2015 - the year in which there is a reversal of the downward trend started in 2012 - the number of divorces went up by 10.

In 2016, 61.5% of divorces were decreed by "mutual consent" (59.5% in 2015 and 60.6% in 2014).

The average age of divorce has been increasing in the last 6 years in both sexes, remaining higher in men than in women. In 2016, this indicator was of 45.6 years for men and 42.9 years for women.

Of the dissolved marriages by divorce counted in 2016, 36.3% lasted between 10 and 19 years (36.4% in 2015 and 36.2% in 2014).

In 2016, 7 marriages were interrupted by separation. In 2014 and 2015, 8 and 6 separations were counted, respectively.
