Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira marks the Children’s Day with a special publication that answers 10 questions

The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today, on the occasion of the Children’s Day, the second edition of the publication "Demography in Figures: Infographics Inspired by 10 Questions",  dedicated to Children’s Day.

This publication aims to answer questions about the present and past of the Autonomous Region of Madeira from a demographic perspective, through infographics complemented by short texts.

The answers are based on three different sources, the Demographic Statistics of Statistics Portugal (INE/DREM, 1990-2022), the Observatory of Education of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (OERAM, 2021/2022) and the Regional Directorate of Sports (DRS, 2021/2022).

In this special edition of the Children’s Day, the following questions are addressed:

1. How many children are there in the Region?

2. How are children characterized?

3. Has there always been more boys than girls?

4. Where do the children live?

5. Where do the children study?

6. Do the children study within their municipality of residence?

7. In which cycle of studies are the children enrolled?

8. What sports do children play?

9. Are there more boys or more girls playing sports?

10. What is the sport most played among boys? And among girls?
