The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today on its website two publications – one for December 2015 and the other for the year 2015 - with data concerning the Consumer Prices Index.
In December 2015, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -0.1% (the same as in the previous month). This value corresponds to the inflation rate for 2015 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (-0.5% in 2014).
The largest downward pressure on the annual average rate of change of the CPI occurred in the classes of "Clothing and footwear" (-1.8%) and "Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels' (-1.3%). In contrast, "Communications" (+4.4%) and "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (+ 2.8%) recorded the largest positive changes.
In the country, the value of that rate stood at 0.5%, 0.1 percentage point (p.p.) higher than the previous month.
In December 2015, the average value of rents per by net area in the Region was the same as in the previous month.
