In the first quarter of 2018
Estimated unemployment rate was 9.1%
The Labour Force Survey results for the first quarter of 2018 indicate that the Unemployment Rate for Madeira was estimated at 9.1%. This value decreased by 3.4 percentage points (p.p.) when compared with the same quarter of 2017 and increased by 0.2 p.p. from the previous quarter.
The unemployment rate for Portugal reached 7.9% (0.2 p.p. lower than the previous quarter, dropping by 2.2 p.p. year-on-year).
The estimate of the unemployed population in Madeira stood at 12.1 thousand persons, having recorded a quarterly increase of 0.8% (+0.1 thousand unemployed persons).
The employed population was estimated at 121.2 thousand persons, representing a quarterly decrease of 1.4% (-1.7 thousand persons employed).
