Balance between formed and dissolved corporations was positive (+84)

According to the data provided to Statistics Portugal by the Directorate General of the Policy of Justice, in the 2nd quarter of 2017, the number of formed corporations headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (234) was higher than the number of dissolved corporations (150), which resulted in a positive balance between the formation and dissolution of corporations (+84).

The data broken down by economic activity show that the most pronounced positive balance was observed in “Accommodation and food service activities” (+43), followed by “Arts, entertainment, sports and recreation activities” (+13), “Real estate activities“ (+12), “Information and communication activities” and “Consultancy, scientific and technical activities” (+11, in both activities). Inversely, negative balances were recorded in “Construction” (-7), “Transportation and storage” (-4) and “Manufacturing” (-3).

The balance between formed and dissolved corporations in the January to June 2017 period was +207 (511 formed corporations and 304 dissolved).
