Balance between formed and dissolved corporations was negative
According to the data provided to Statistics Portugal by the Directorate General of the Policy of Justice, in 2014, the number of dissolved corporations headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (836) was higher than the number of formed corporations (788), which resulted in a negative balance between the formation and dissolution of corporations (-48). In the previous year this balance was more negative (-209).
Breaking down the data by economic activity we note that the most expressive positive balance was observed in “Accommodation and food service activities” (+73), “Arts, entertainment, sports and recreation activities” (+24), “Administrative and support service activities” (+19), “Agriculture, farming of animals, hunting and forestry” (+14), “Information and communication activities “ (+13) and “Other service activities” (+10). The activities that contributed more to the overall negative balance were “Consultancy, scientific and technical activities” (-89), “Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” (-39), “Financial and insurance activities” (-34), “Transportation and storage” (-31) and “Construction” (-22).
The 3rd quarter was the only quarter in 2014 to show a positive balance between formed and dissolved corporations.
