In the 1st quarter 2016
The balance between formed and dissolved corporations was null
According to the data provided to Statistics Portugal by the Directorate General of the Policy of Justice, in the 1st quarter of 2016, the number of formed corporations headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (220) was the same than the number of dissolved corporations (220), which resulted in a null balance between the formation and dissolution of corporations. This result is largely connected to the formation of enterprises linked to the Madeira International Business Center (IBC).
The data broken down by economic activity show that the most pronounced positive balance was observed in “Accommodation and food service activities” (+14), followed by “Arts, entertainment, sports and recreation activities” (+11), “Human health and social work activities” (+8) and “Agriculture, farming of animals, hunting and forestry” (+6). The activities that contributed more to the overall negative balance were “Consultancy, scientific and technical activities” (-11), “Construction” (-5) and “Financial and insurance activities” (-3).
