DREM releases the Complete Life Tables for the Autonomous Region of Madeira (2014-2016)
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira releases for the first time on its website the Complete and Abbreviated Life Tables for the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) for the 2014-2016 period, providing the values of life expectancy for those years.
The results published by Statistics Portugal (INE) show that life expectancy at birth for the population of the ARM stood at 78.02 years; 73.96 years for men and 81.41 years for women.
Compared with the 2013-2015 period, there was an increase of 3.12 months for the overall population (3.72 months for men and 2.64 months for women).
Life expectancy at birth is greater among women, however the gap between genders shrunk between 2013-2015 (7.54 years) and 2014-2016 (7.45 years).
For Portugal, life expectancy at birth was estimated at 80.62 years (2.60 years higher if compared with ARM). In the country, life expectancy for the female gender is 83.33 years while for men is 77.61 years.
