Passenger movement at airports in the Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded year-on-year growth of 6.5%
According to information provided by ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal to the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM), in November 2025, passenger traffic at the ARM airports amounted to 404.7 thousand passengers, transported on 2 864 aircraft movements (commercial flights), corresponding to year-on-year changes of +6.5% and +7.3%, respectively.
In the reference month, Madeira Airport recorded an increase both in aircraft movements (2 717; +8.0% compared with November 2024) and in the number of passengers (394.9 thousand; +6.7%). At Porto Santo Airport, a decrease was observed in aircraft movements (147; -4.5% compared with the same period of 2024) and in the number of passengers (9.7 thousand; -1.6%).
In the first eleven months of 2025, aircraft movements and passenger movements recorded increases of +13.4% and +12.6%, respectively.

In the month under review, each aircraft (considering both landings and take-offs) carried, on average, around 145 passengers (147 in November 2024) at Madeira Airport, while at Porto Santo Airport this figure stood at 66 passengers (64 in the same period of 2024).
In November 2025, passenger movement at the Autonomous Region of Madeira airports increased by 9.8% in international traffic (237.2 thousand passengers) and by 2.0% in the domestic segment (167.5 thousand passengers).
At Madeira Airport, international traffic (59.3% of the total) predominated over domestic traffic (40.7%). At Porto Santo Airport, domestic traffic accounted for the majority (69.5% of the total), although with a smaller imbalance compared with the same period of 2024 (70.3%).
In the reference month, regular flights at the ARM airports accounted for 92.6% of total aircraft movements and 95.6% of passengers (91.6% and 93.6%, respectively, in November 2024).
In November 2025, the occupancy of aircraft operating at the ARM airports stood at around 83.9%, with Madeira Airport reaching 84.2% and Porto Santo Airport 75.1%. In the previous year, the corresponding occupancy rate was higher for the two regional airports combined (84.4%) and for Madeira Airport (84.8%), while it was lower at Porto Santo Airport (71.5%).
From January to November 2025, the total number of passengers embarking and disembarking at the ARM airports (excluding transit passengers) totalled 5 253.6 thousand, of which 43.8% corresponded to traffic exclusively between airports located in national territory, including internal and domestic connections, and 56.2% to international traffic. Within the latter, the United Kingdom (26.8%) and Germany (20.6%) were the main countries of origin and destination of international flights at the ARM airports. France (10.3%) ranked third, followed by Poland (9.5%).
